Chuck Brough has earned the respect of all with whom he works because of his integrity, intelligence, education, communication skills, experience, knowledge of California Property Tax Law and State Board of Equalization policies, analytical and organizational abilities, management style, responsiveness to the needs of others and sense of humor. He is the perfect candidate to bring NEW LEADERSHIP with a FRESH PERSPECTIVE to the office of Assessor-Recorder.

Chief Appraiser, 1987 to present, Madera County Assessor

  • the top non-elected position fulfilling the role of Assistant Assessor
  • represents the Assessor as needed
  • manages both real and personal property appraisers
  • assists in hiring, promoting and evaluating staff
  • interprets and implements new legislation
  • performs many of the more technically challenging appraisals
  • member of the California Chief Appraisers Organization
  • works with a fully-integrated computerized property tax system
  • utilizes various software applications to improve clerical and appraisal workflow.
  • highest State Board of Equalization appraiser certification
  • taught real property continuing education courses for the State Board of Equalization.
  • contributed to the State Board of Equalization's rewrites of Assessor policy handbooks
  • proposed legislation endorsed by the California Assessors Association
