Born and raised in central and northern Illinois (State of). First of five children (two brothers and two sisters, all with college education) now spread across the United States. Father, registered professional engineer, highly active in community affairs (including local elementary school district board member for more than 16 years, several as board president). Mother, full time homemaker.

Attended and graduated from University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) and University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). All degrees in Electrical Engineering (with emphasis in RF and Microwave). Was a graduate teaching assistant at University of Illinois (helped create and teach a course still being taught).

Married for over 30 years. Wife, graduate of University of Illinois in Education. Teacher, taught for more than 14 years in Illinois and Michigan, now a substitute teacher in Sunnyvale.

Children, one wonderful son (adopted - Korea). Entire education in Sunnyvale Schools (Cumberland and now Sunnyvale Middle School). Black Belt - Tae Kwon Do, member of Cantabile Children's Choir, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Moved to California in 1980. Lived in San Jose, moved to Sunnyvale in 1992. Worked for Watkins-Johnson (Palo Alto), several positions in microwave subsystems R&D, manufacturing operations, and program management. Now with Harris Corp Microwave Communications Division (Redwood Shores), Director of RF, Micro/Millimeter Wave Engineering and Manufacturing Technology (past Director, Microwave Components Operations - microwave manufacturing and engineering).

Member of First United Methodist Church - Campbell since 1980. Member and leader of several boards and commissions including High School Youth Advisor, Chairman, Education Commission; Chairman, Pastor, Staff, Parish Relations (personnel committee); Co-Chairman Administrative Council. Made/served meals at Glide Memorial Methodist Church (San Francisco) on several occasions.

Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (Microwave Theory & Techniques; Engineering Management; Components, Packaging, & Manufacturing).
