Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Don E. Peck

Candidate for
Board Member; Sunnyvale School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Regardless of what one may think of the Sunnyvale Elementary schools (great, just OK, or low) there is need for continuous improvement, to enhance the education product, to better serve the educational needs of the "customer" (the children and families of the community). To achieve the highest quality education program there are several conditions, often conflicting interests that must be blended together (county, state, federal requirements; parent, teacher, citizen, business groups; environment; limited resources/budget; and budget cuts). The outcome quality of this "optimizing" process is set by the School Board so that the operation team (superintendent, educators, administrators, students, and employees) can succeed. Thus, the members (Trustees) of the Board need/must have the skills, experience, and thoughtfulness to set the standards/expectations and give critical review. The wisdom of the voters will determine the members of the Board.
