Background and Experience

By Susan F. Schmidt

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Tamalpais Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I have been an active volunteer in the schools since 1988. My daughter is a recent graduate of Redwood and my son is an entering freshman. From 1994-98 I served on the Larkspur Elementary District Board of Trustees with a record of support for teachers and students. In 1998 to 2000 I was a co-chair of the TUHSD Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee. I co-chaired the District's 121M bond campaign last year, organizing hundreds of volunteers from the fourteen communities that feed into the high school district. I have also had leadership roles on numerous school funding campaigns. For the past three years I have been on the organizing committee of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walkathon. I believe my experience has demonstrated
-a commitment to the children of our community and support for staff
-responsible and responsive leadership,
-familiarity with the communities and programs of the entire district,
-an understanding of the scope of responsibilities facing a school board trustee.
