Points to Improve Education

1. Pre-schooling to increase vocabulary.

2. Phonetics over whole language.

3. Direct instruction has its down side because it stymies the individual's self expression and creativity, although it can alleviate inattentiveness through on task learning habits. Free expression is to be encouraged but not to the point of sacrificing discipline. Free expression is known to stimulate creativity and mind development.

4. Early diagnoses of students with learning problems, keep them included with regular students through effective support programs, like thoughs you can get in Junior college, tutoring, note taking with a tape recorder, a quit room for testing, and time and a half or double time when taking tests. It is thought by some that as many as 33% of students in school may have some form of ADD or related learning difficulties. There is a large resource of talented volunteers in the community for tutoring in the schools that should be taken advantage of.

5.Higher entrance teacher salaries are need to attract the higher grade point average of university graduates thinking about entering the teaching profession.

STATISTICS

1. It is thought by some that as many as 33% of the populous is affected by ADD, dyslexia and/or other learning difficulties.

2. It is estimated that 60% to 70% of the incarcerated have some form of a learning disability.

3. One study revealed that graduates coming out of universities who enter the teaching profession have the lower one third of the grade point averages.

Higher entrance teacher salaries are needed to attract the higher grade point average of university graduates thinking about entering the teaching profession.

4. Another study says that 25% of all new teachers leave within 5 years for higher paying jobs.
