Traffic for the Twenty-First Century

By Edwin "Eddie" Lounibos

Candidate for City Council; City of Vista

This information is provided by the candidate
How to improve the overall traffic flow through Vista.
As many of you know Vista has some very old and strange roads. Very narrow with a lot of curvature. Most of these roads will stay that way. The City traffic engineers could look at some of their designs in a more real world aspect.

I would like to know why the City of Vista installs stoplights with no left hand turning arrows on them, when they are needed at the time the stop lights are intsalled?. This pratice does not help with the flow of traffic.

We need traffic designs that are laid out for long term usage. Many streets need to be widened and re-paved.

The City of Vista should be in the process at this time to acquire state and federal money for the proposed NCTD rail line. We should be very active in having the rail line below grade at most of the major intersections through town. Can you imagine what traffic would be like in the AM and PM at Mar Vista, Escondido, S. Santa Fe, Melrose and Vista Village Drive when these trains are coming and going. I would hate to think what we would all have to deal with.
