Candidate for
City Council; City of Imperial Beach

This information is provided by the candidate

I was born in 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona, but most of my life has been spent in Imperial Beach. I am the offspring of a Texas born career Navy Chief and a Tennessee native civil servant mother. I have lived in Taipei, Taiwan as a military dependent, and in Montreal, Canada as an employee of the Immigration Service. Even though my career has offered opportunities to reside afar, I have chosen Imperial Beach as my hometown. I attended Southwestern College, earning an Associate degree in the Spanish language. I transferred to San Diego State University, where I was lucky enough to spend one summer studying Spanish in Guadalajara, Mexico. I speak Spanish well enough to help in any negotiations this city may have with our counterparts in Mexico, and to effectively communicate with our Spanish-speaking residents.

I have been married for over 20 years to my lovely wife Germaine, an elementary school teacher. I have two beautiful daughters; one is attending San Diego State University majoring in Engineering; the other is a junior at Mar Vista High School.

In 1980 I began employment with the U.S. Border Patrol. During my time with the Immigration Service, I have had the opportunities of teaching at our Academy in Glynco, Georgia, of working in Montreal, Canada as an Immigration Inspector, and working in various aspects of this Service, from intelligence to foreign liaison. For years now I have worked at the Imperial Beach Border Patrol Station, and I patrol within our city. I proudly hold the rank of Senior Patrol Agent.
