April Treece has been an advocate for public schools for close to 30 years. She has both the experience and the dedication to effectively support Mt. Diablo Unified School District's students well into the 21st Century.

As the principal of a local strategic communications consulting business, April Treece is an active member of the business community. Under her leadership, the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Mt. Diablo Schools to bring innovative programs to students and educators including BEST (Business and Educators Shadowing for Tomorrow--a high school teacher job shadowing program); KAPOW (Kids and the Power of Work--an elementary multi-school program); and the annual Chamber Teacher Recognition Reception to acknowledge educational excellence in our community's schools.

As chair of the Contra Costa Council's Education Task Force, April has led county-wide business advocacy efforts to help improve poor performing schools; equalize school funding, lower the two-thirds majority on school facilities bonds, and develop a K-12 Masterplan to drive educational decision-making to the local level.

As a 25-year public relations professional, she has worked in both a corporate environment and with a variety of local school districts to increase communications effectiveness in the areas of stakeholder management; strategic planning; media and community relations; employee, parent and community communications; and web information management.

Before starting her own business, April Treece was a long-time public relations director of a Fortune 500 company located in the Bay Area. In this capacity, she engaged her employer in effective school partnership strategies involving employees in both leadership and volunteer activities. She created an educational nonprofit designed to bridge the business and education communities to benefit students. April also served as president and board member of one of the most respected school volunteer organizations in the nation.

April Treece is married and has one child who attends Mt. Diablo schools.
