Candidate for Member, Board of Hospital Directors; Washington Township Health Care District

This information is provided by the candidate
The Internet can help improve quality, reduce bottlenecks and enhance the functioning of our Hospital.
Since I was elected to the Board 4 years ago,I lobbied hard for the creation of a web site for the hospital. I have a long-standing interest in computers, and have been a consultant in a medical web site in the Internet since it was a command line interface . I gave lectures to members of the medical staff on the subject of Internet use. Currently my objectives are 1) Connectivity. Connecting Labs, physician's offices, and nursing stations in a intranet. This will allow a physician to monitor a patient, study tracings , order medications and retrieve lab data from multiple locations. 2) Card-based admission process. A patient being admitted or having lab work done in our institution will only need to swipe a card to be registered, saving the patient waiting time, and reducing errors. 3) Data gathering. An institution as complex and large as ours cannot function without extensive data gathering. Our Quality Assurance program relies heavily on data. My experience in this area will be useful as we update and improve the systems we are currently using.
