     Beth Howard was born in Oakland and moved to Dublin in 1976 with her husband and 2 children. She has been married for 33 years to her husband Pat, an engineer at Lockheed Martin. Daughter Michelle is a resident of Dublin and an infant care provider. She is married and the mother of 2 daughters, 1st and 3rd graders in the Dublin Unified School District. Son Shawn, a Dublin High graduate, is now living in New York City. After receiving his BA Degree from the University of California, Berkeley he has moved to New York City to attend Columbia University where he has received 2 Masters Degrees and is now a Ph.D. Candidate. He is planning to enter Law School next year.     After serving as President of Nielsen School PTA and serving on several committees, such as the California State Wide Legal Compliance Committee, Citizens Advisory Committee and Murray Advisory Committee she was elected to the Murray School District Board of Trustees in
1983. She served as School Board Member from 1983 to 1990, first serving for the Murray School District and then Dublin Unified School District upon its creation. She served on both boards for one year together during the unification process.

     In 1990 Beth was elected to the Dublin City Council. She has been a representative on:

  • Dublin Housing Authority
  • Board Member of Community Television
  • Liaison Committee with the Dublin School District
  • East Bay Regional Parks Liaison
  • Chairman of the Doughtery Regional Fire Authority
  • Currently the First Vice President of The League of California Cities East Bay Division
  • Serving on the State League of California Cities Taxation and Revenue Policy Committee.
  • One of the most important committees has been the Senior Center Advisory that she served as chairperson culminating in the new Senior Center in Dublin.
  • Parliamentarian and Student Art Committee chairperson
  • Served as President of the Sister City Association.
  • Beth is a member of the Women's Club of Dublin and she has served as Board member    Beth is a ten year member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce working as an ambassador to promote the City and local businesses.      She is the Community Relations Volunteer for Hope Hospice. Ten years ago she founded and is still chairperson for Hope Hospice "Lights of the Valley Tree of Life", having raised over $210,000 for terminally ill patients and the Tri-Valley
