Candidate for Member Council; Village of Elmwood Place

This is the biggest concern of the residents of Elmwood Place.
This is the biggest concern of the residents of Elmwood Place. It is very evident that problems exist when the needed ambulance is dispatched from St. Bernard, when the first police officer to arrive is not one of ours, or when the first fire engine at the scene comes from some other village.

Our village has spent tax dollars to ensure that our fire and rescue departments are well equipped and well trained. We have no shortage of dedication, sacrifice, or ability from those who are serving as members. But the rosters are sparse and the few dedicated members are unable to cover all the bases 100% of the time. This creates coverage gaps which could lead to serious ramifications. Attention must be given to re-inforcing our squads with more well-trained and dedicated help by expanding our volunteer system and/ or finding the necessary funds to bolster the rosters.

The police department is another story. We hire and train new officers only to see them leave our employ for greener pastures... money. This must change. We need officers who will stay in order to build support with our citizens.
