Candidate Answers Questions on the Issues

Questions & Answers

1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?

There currently is Metro bus service to and from Loveland. Loveland currently has major traffic congestion into and out of the city. Although widening of Loveland-Madeira Road should ease the congestion, additional public transportation i.e. light rail, additional bus routes, or "Park and Ride" would also be an asset.

2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.

I support county-wide campaign finance regulations as a way of equalizing the campaigns. Too often the major political parties support candidates even in non-partisan elections, which allows for unfair monetary advantages to some.

3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?

The benefit of land use planning prior to zoning decisions allows citizens to have input for land usage.

Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League, but formatted for Web display. Candidates were asked to limit their responses to 300 words for all 3 answers. Simple spelling or typographical errors were corrected after confirmation with the candidate.
