Candidate for
Member, Board of Education; Pasadena Unified School District; Seat 1

This information is provided by the candidate

The first 25 years of my life were spent at 424 South Oak Knoll, two houses south of the Pasadena Unified School District's main offices. I attended Mckinley Elementary, McKinley Jr. High, Blair High School, Pasadena City College, CSULB, UCLA, and finally, UC Irvine from which I graduated with a BA in English Literature. While at UCLA, I became an NCAA All American in Men's Foil Fencing. I have represented the United States in fencing in Paris, Austria, Germany, and Britain. I have been rated as high as the fifth best fencer in the United States. All this is to say that I know what it feels like to win. Also, this opportunity was made available because of my ability to seek a higher education. Even PCC will be out of the question for over half of our 24,000 PUSD students, much less UCLA or UCI.

In 1982, I began a job as a proofreader for a CPA/Consulting firm specializing in hotel management and development. Because of my research and writing skills, and after I graduated from UCI, I was promoted to consultant in 1986. From 1987 to the present I have alternated working as an Environmental Consultant and a substitute/ full-time teacher.
