Position Statement

By Nancy M. Mucha

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Mountain View School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I have diligently worked in the schools and the community to nuture, educate, respect, and empower young people so they are responsible, hopeful, and prepared for the future. I have been involved in many programs and activities that help foster an understanding and appreciation of diversity and have helped provide opportunities for youth to contribute to the community. These programs, other than "Shadowing" and "Business Education Committee," which are highlighted elsewhere, include membership on the Challenge Team and Project Cause, organizations consisting of school and communithy leaders; and Peer Court for at risk teens. I have also started a program, called Peace Keepers, that deals with teenage conflict management. In addition, I have been the leader of Red Ribbon Week, a program that urges youth to say "No to Drugs."

My decision to seek a second term is motivated by the belief that continuity is really important to successful closure of recently initated District programs. With the successful passage of the District's bond issue, I look forward to meeting the challenge of District modernization and to continuing my role in the development and articulation of its curriculum.
