Candidate for Governing Board Member; Mountain View School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As an incumbent, a teacher and counselor, and community member for more than 20 years, I support academic excellence and strive to provide the opportunity for every child to be successful -- these are the goals to which I am and shall be committed. We must equip each student for a competitive world. Staff development and continued assessment programs are integral parts of the system and must be maintained. Safe schools, parent involvement, parental choice, and fiscal responsibility are essential factors in providing an excellent education.

I have diligently worked in the school and the community to nuture, educate, respect, and empower young people so they are responsible, hopeful, and prepared for the future. I have been involved in many programs and activities that help foster an understanding and appreciation of diversity and have helped provide opportunities for youth to contribute to the community.

My decision to seek a second term is motivated by the belief that continuity is really important to seccessful closure of recently initiated District progams. With the successful passage of the District's bond issue, I look forward to meeting the challenge of district modernization and to continuing my role in the development and articulation of its curriculum.
