This quote by the great educator, John Dewey, describes Tanya's philosophy in her bid for a position on the Board of Trustees in the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District. As a candidate, Tanya offers a unique blend of COMMITMENT and PASSION toward educational opportunities and success for our children. She has the TIME to DEVOTE to contribute toward the Board and Superintendent working as a successful team, FOCUSING on STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT no matter what other issues arise.

As a MINORITY PARENT of four children, Tanya recognizes and RESPECTS the DIVERSITY of the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District and will always work in the best interests of ALL of the students in the District.

Upon election to the Board of Trustees, Tanya pledges to:

1. Foster teamwork on the Board, recognizing that the Board's authority exists only as a group--not as individuals.

2. Build a team that supports and communicates effectively with the Superintendent and staff.

3. Help establish a clear and dynamic vision for the District.

4. Be a strong advocate for ALL students and the District's educational programs.

5. Dedicate the necessary time and energy to her duties and responsibilities.
