Peter Green is currently Mayor Pro Tem, served as Mayor in 1991, and has been on the Huntington Beach city Council for twelve (12) years.

Green holds a Doctoral Degree in Ecology and is a long-time member of the Golden West College Mathematics and Sciences Division.

While on the city Council, Dr. Green has championed environmental issues and presently represents the City on the Orange County Harbors, Beaches, and Parks Commission; the Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency; the Orange County Marine Institute; and the California League of Cities Environmental Quality Committee. He is a founding member and current Chairman of the Bolsa Chica Conservancy Board of Directors.

President George Bush personally presented him with the Teddy Roosevelt Conservation Award "In Recognition of Outstanding Accomplishment and Achievement in the Areas of Conservation and Wise Stewardship of Natural Resources." (10/27/92)
