Traffic Congestion

By Lou Bone

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Tustin

This information is provided by the candidate
Tustin street improvements have been part of a county plan for over a decade, but they have been put on the back burner because our city council has not fought for them.
I am particularily concerned about traffic congestion.

Although Red Hill street improvements have been part of a county plan for over a decade, they have dropped from Priority #1 to Priority #6 because our city council has been asleep at the wheel.

Red Hill Avenue is nearing peak capacity. In July 1999, the Tustin Marine Base is scheduled to close. When the base is developed, traffic is expected to more than double.

We need to reconfigure Red Hill and ensure that train traffic does not impede traffic flow. Before Red Hill can be reconfigured, Newport Avenue needs to be cut through to Edinger.
