Marijuana in Humboldt County

By Gary Holder

Candidate for Sheriff

This information is provided by the candidate
The CAMP Program:

I support continuance of the CAMP program in Humboldt County. Failing to actively participate in the program would hand complete control to State and Federal law enforcement officials leaving local law enforcement out of the picture. I firmly believe that if you remove local law enforcement you lose virtually all accountability. As Sheriff I will work to keep the program under control, doing what is necessary to assure that CAMP personnel are working within the guidelines established by the laws of this state and the sheriff's office. I will welcome and encourage input from the communities within Humboldt County regarding CAMP operations. I will work for reasonable and acceptable resolutions if problems arise.

PROP 215 - Medical Marijuana:

The voters of California have clearly said through passage of Prop 215 that marijuana should be legal when used for medical purposes. Humboldt County should develop and adopt guidelines for implementation of this decision. This will help law enforcement, patients and providers to better understand, respect and obey the law.
