It is high time we elect a school board that will focus on forging community partnerships by working with parents, teachers, and students. After all, nobody knows better than parents what is best for their children; nobody knows better than teachers what students need to be successful; and nobody knows better than students what drives them and gives them the urge to succeed. This is why our school board must be respectful and accountable to these core groups, as well as the community as a whole.

Now is the time to elect a school board that will encourage open communication, innovative problem solving, tolerance of diverse lifestyles, and participation in the best of our democratic values. At the same time, all members of the school community: administrators, students, teachers, parents, and school board members must be accountable for student learning and academic success.

We need partnerships, not partisanship in our schools. We need cooperation, not conflict. We need holistic education, not indoctrination. I respectfully ask you to join me in forging these grassroots community partnerships. Together we will make a difference for our young people, our community, and ultimately our society.
