To this day, one of my all time favorite books is J.D. Salinger's "Catcher In the Rye." What we do to ensure top academic excellence, financial health and vital wellness for our kids while they evolve throughout the many stages of their growth and development, be it on the academic, athletic or rye fields, would pave the way for how they'll be as constructive, creative and compassionate thinkers and leaders of our societies.

Also, fiscal prudence is critical to ensuring resources stay as close to the students and teachers in the frontline classrooms as possible.

Key Strategies:

A. Pay down the ~ $20 Million dollars Capital Appreciation Bond, Series C, ASAP, to mitigate the 7x heavy debt of ~ $140 Million dollars burden to our children and grandchildren in 2046!

B. With ~$1.4 Million dollars painful cut to Hillsborough City School District (HCSD)educational resources around the start of 2008/2009 recession, and with current HCSD Organization Structure to include:

1 Superintendent, 4 Able Principals, 5 Board of Trustees

= Numbering TEN (10) TOTAL, the ~($170K to $210K) annual salary quoted for the hiring of an Assistant Superintendent is better allocated for students and teachers at this time.

C. KEEP STATE AND LOCAL FUNDING AS CLOSE TO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN THE FRONTLINE CLASSROOMS AS POSSIBLE!

Together with your votes on November 3, 2015 Election Day, we're all catchers in the rye field for our kids to have the resources, both in funding and best teachers and educators, to be happy, healthy and thrive!

Best,

Pearl Wu, MD
