Candidate for
Council Member; City of Redwood City

Shelly Masur is a well-known and recognized leader in the community and was named one of the "100 Women of Influence" by the Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2013. In her 10th year, she currently serves on the Redwood City School Board of which she has been president two times. She is also past-President of the San Mateo County School Boards Association and was elected as a Delegate to the California School Boards Association's Delegate Assembly. Shelly serves on numerous boards and advisory boards including the board of the Partnership for Children and Youth and the Institute for Local Government's Public Engagement Advisory Committee. Shelly also is a member of Assemblymember Kevin Mullin"s and Assemblymember Rich Gordon's Education Advisory Committees.

In her role as a school board member, Shelly has served as board representative to Redwood City 2020, a public-private collaborative focused on healthy children, youth and families. She initiated and led the Call to Action Committee, which conducted outreach to approximately 40 organizations and over 800 community members including parent groups, business and service organizations to garner support for the district and encourage advocacy on its behalf and contributed to the district passing its first ever parcel tax. Shelly is a frequent speaker on developing and operating community-school and civic partnerships to leverage funding and improve outcomes for children, and on successful community outreach and communication.

Shelly became the CEO of Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation in February 2014 and has almost twenty years of experience working with youth-serving non-profits.

Shelly holds a Master's Degree in Public Health and lives in Redwood City with her husband, two high school-aged sons and has a daughter in college.
