I was born and raised on the Peninsula. I attended our public schools, where I delivered newspapers, rode SamTrans buses, worked at a hot dog stand, and learned that I wanted to devote my career to public service. I'm a certified land use, transportation, and environmental planner who has helped cities throughout California make tough decisions about how to balance everyone's needs.

I am currently the Director of Planning at SamTrans, where I work every day to improve traffic and transit service in our neighborhoods. I am focused on how to improve transportation options for our kids and our seniors. I also work on major public policy challenges like housing, infrastructure and environmental sustainability.

Since 2013, I have had the honor of representing our community on the Belmont Planning Commission, where I currently serve as the Chair. I enjoy working productively with my six colleagues to carefully consider how we can make Belmont a better community. I am proud to dedicate my life to serving the public.

My wife Shelly, our two kids and I live in the Central neighborhood. My girls Alison and Samantha attend our public schools (Ralston Middle and Central Elementary), play M&M basketball and AYSO soccer, and love to raise animals and participate in youth leadership through the Belmont 4H program. Our dog Kip is a Portuguese Water Dog who believes we are all trespassing at Water Dog Lake and need to get off his property.

I love classic rock, R&B, blues, and jazz music and have visited all 30 major league baseball stadiums. I love a good conversation, especially if it's debating why they don't make music and baseball players like they used to.

I'm also an avid runner who has completed 15 marathons. I've jogged on most of our City's streets (including the hills!) and believe I have a unique perspective and understanding of our neighborhoods and community.
