Parent. Education Advocate. Social Worker.

I grew up in San Francisco, attending all public schools from Kindergarten through graduate school. I am the daughter of immigrant parents from Austria and Germany. My family instilled in me a value of public education and the importance of helping others, leading me to pursue a career in social work with children and families. My dedication to children's issues encompasses not only child welfare, but public education as well.

I am a passionate child advocate, and have been involved in our school district since moving back to the Bay Area in 2010 with my husband and two young sons. I have been volunteering with art and garden programs, helping students with reading, and as a field trip chaperone in North Shoreview Montessori, Foster City Elementary, and Highlands Elementary, as well as tutoring reading in a nearby district, and advocating at the state level by means of grass-roots campaigns for high quality public education for all students and increased education funding.

In addition, in 2014 I co-founded SMFC Parents4Math with the goal of sharing information with parents across the district about changes in math curriculum and engaging parents with school district administration and the School Board on the topic of math education in our middle and high schools.

The same values that motivated me to choose my career path motivate my decision to run for School Board: a desire to help improve the lives of all children. Our district is in such an exciting time of transitions and opportunities: new leadership under Superintendent Joan Rosas, further implementation of Common Core State Standards, the shift to the Local Control Funding Formula, and a school bond measure before the voters to address capacity and equity issues within our district.
