Ballot Statement

I'm an elected Trustee of South San Francisco Unified School District. I've served two terms as President. We educate 10,000 K-12th graders. During California's recession, I won our teachers' trust for difficult - but essential - belt tightening that preserved vital educational programs.

While a Board Member, SSF Unified won five California Distinguished School Awards. Our graduation rate is among the region's best.

I'm employed as a Youth Developer. My non-profit organization works with the police to guide at-risk youth onto the road to college and employment. I'm on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club.

SSF Unified's partnerships with Genentech, other biotech businesses, and Skyline College provide students opportunities for good jobs and college transfers. We just launched a Middle College High School with San Mateo County Community College District to enable students to graduate high school with a college degree.

I'm eager to put my leadership skills in education and with youth to work for all Peninsula residents as a Community College Trustee. I respectfully request your vote.
