Council Member; City of San Mateo; 4 Year Term

I am working hard to make San Mateo a safe, structurally and fiscally sound and sustainable community, with top-notch schools, where business can thrive and citizens of all ages and income levels can enjoy the quality of life that has made San Mateo so loveable and liveable for generations.

My top priority has been, and will continue to be, public safety. I am particularly interested in increased patrols and efforts to keep our kids in school and out of trouble.

Addressing our failing infrastructure simply must put on the "front burner" as continued failure to repair and upgrade our roads, pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities and other critical infrastructure needs threatens our safety and financial viability. I am proud that this City Council proposed Measure S which will provide a dedicated funding source to complete these critical projects.

The greatest challenge we face is managing the impacts of the economic boom on the Peninsula which has created a traffic nightmare and housing shortage driving rapidly escalating rents that threaten to change the very face and fabric of our community by displacing working families and seniors.

I believe that San Mateo can grow and prosper without sacrificing the quality of life and neighborhood charm that we all cherish. Resolving these problems will take a regional approach and we will need effective representation and established working relationships with our regional leaders to ensure the best outcomes for San Mateo. I am proud to be endorsed and supported by all of our federal, state, county and local elected officials.
