Fiscal Discipline

Fiscal Discipline During All Economic Cycles
I will maintain strong fiscal discipline. Just like families must save for long-term goals, Burlingame needs fiscal discipline even in strong economic times.

I support:

1. Continued reduction of Burlingame's unfunded liabilities.

2. Maintaining strong budget reserves to protect our city during the inevitable ebb and flow of economic cycles

3. Prioritizing "must-have" infrastructure improvements that deliver quality city services (e.g. street resurfacing, water main maintenance, sidewalk repairs) over our community's wish-list for new capital improvement construction. We need to thoughtfully balance both goals.

4. Exploring public-private partnerships to help fund capital improvements that benefit our community.

5. Thoughtful investment in city staff to ensure maximum effectiveness of our local government.
