Steve Metcho, Candidate for Novato Fire District Board of Directors

Having taken time out to enjoy family and grandchildren, I am again running for a seat on the Novato Fire District Board of Directors. My past experience being elected to and serving on the NFD Board, 2003-2007, and Board President in 2005, followed my fulltime career with NFD starting as a Firefighter in 1976 and retiring as Deputy Fire Marshal in 2002. During my time on the NFD Board of Directors, we passed measure C to build our new Fire Station 65 to better protect the families in the Hamilton area, and acquired property to create an Admin. Facility, which now houses Novato's Emergency Operations Center in the event of a disaster or major emergency. I am a past member of Fire Safe Marin, and past Firefighter of the Year for accomplishments for our community in the field of Fire Prevention. I hold a certificate of completion from the California Special Districts Governance Academy in Sacramento, plus numerous fire related awards and certifications. After a tour in the US Navy, I studied at College of Marin, Portland City College, and UC Berkeley Extension. Novato has been my home for almost 45 years where my wife and I raised our 3 children. The Novato Fire District is staffed by highly trained people with the latest equipment. The residents of Novato can be proud in the knowledge that we have dedicated firefighters and staff. I appreciate your support and will endeavor to maintain the high level of emergency service and care we all receive in our community.

Thank You Steve Metcho
