Tam Valley is a small, close-knit community. Despite the fact that the Tamalpais Community Services District's (TCSD) main functions include sanitation, refuse and park and recreation services, I feel that a critical function of the TCSD Board of Directors is to assure that the community's health, happiness and cohesiveness remains at the forefront of our responsibilities. For that reason, Steffen Bartschat, Matt McMahon and I are running as a slate in this election. All of us are currently directors on the Board, and it is our strong desire to maintain a track record of competent leadership and oversight of the District's functions while ensuring that special interests do not dominate our Board discussions or gain undue influence. I run for office simply because I want to assure that the best short and long term interests of our residents and businesses are at the forefront of all decisions that I make.

Our District has never operated better. We provide first class programs of refuse, recycling and composting, sanitary sewer collection and phenomenal park and recreational activities. But we do have work to do. Challenges over the next 4 years include succession planning for the General Manager and support staff positions; planning for the financing of the Southern Marin and Sausalito/ Marin City sewer treatment plant upgrades; expense control and building up our reserves so we can continue to support the District residents with the excellent services that they have come to expect; and getting more community input and participation at our monthly Board of Directors meetings. My education and professional experience will assist us in getting there.
