My overall philosophy is that the TCSD Board exists to provide citizen oversight on its operations. We don't exist to micro-manage or somehow feel like we are part of the operation. We are here to represent the tax payer and make sure our tax dollars are spent wisely.

I appreciate feedback from the public on all issues and I also appreciate the times when directors respectfully disagree on a particular issue. When we carefully listen to opposing opinions and then craft a compromise that everyone can live with, we generally make the wisest decisions.

I believe that team work and a desire to build consensus is a key quality for being an effective TCSD Director. To that effect, I have formed a team with Steve Levine and Matt McMahon in the current election. Both Steve and Matt have provided thoughtful commentary in our board meetings and are active volunteers in the TCSD community.

Vote Levine, Bartschat, McMahon on November 4th to Keep Tam Valley Strong!

Here's some additional information on my positions as published in the Marin County Voter Guide.

Candidate Statement - Steffen Bartschat

The stakes for this election are high. The TCSD Board has maintained a track record of competent leadership and oversight while ensuring that special interests do not dominate our Board discussions or gain undue influence -let's keep it that way. I've been serving Tam Valley as a TCSD Director for the past three terms and am respectfully asking for your vote to "Keep Tam Valley Strong".

Our district has never operated better - we organize popular events such as Creekside Fridays, run a service-focused & innovative garbage collection service, and continuously work to keep our sewer collection system flowing.

New challenges await that require experience - this includes the planned improvements for the Sausalito treatment plant, as well as the expected retirement of our general manager. I will continue to advocate for expense control, especially pension-related costs.

Professionally, I am the CEO of Hill88 Consulting. I hold BS/MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and an MS degree in Business Management from Stanford Business School, with a Certificate in Public Management.

My candidacy is endorsed by Marin County Supervisor Kate Sears, MMWD Director Cynthia Koehler, TVIC President Curry Eckelhoff, and all current TCSD Board Members.
