Dr. Teresa L. Merino

Dr. Teresa Lugo Merino completed her doctoral studies in 2002 at Claremont Graduate University in Urban Education Administration. She also holds three Master Degrees, which include a Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Education and Master of Science in Administration.

She retired from Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) where she worked for sixteen years as middle and high school principal and Assistant Director providing educational leadership and overseeing multi million dollar budgets.

"My family and I have lived in Pico Rivera for 46 years and truly care about the people who live here. I have 30 years of hands-on experience in public education and I continue to serve children in the classroom at El Rancho Schools and the community as a member of El Rancho Citizens Oversight Committee where I help oversee our Bond taxpayers' money".

My reasons for running for El Rancho School Board are:

  • Exercise strong budgetary oversight to protect the district's sound fiscal position
  • Prioritize and allocate resources where they are most needed
  • Increase student enrollment with innovative academic programs
  • Ensure that the Bond Measure funds approved by taxpayers are directed to school improvements
  • Enforce transparency and open communication
