Governing Board Member; Compton Unified School District

Board President Micah Ali was elected to the Compton Unified School District (CUSD) Board of Education in 2007 and was re-elected by a historic landslide in 2011. Micah has served as CUSD's longest presiding President. He also served Los Angeles County as the President of the Los Angeles County Schools Trustees Association. Micah quickly earned a national reputation as a determined champion of early childhood education, school-based health centers and reforming special education.

Micah's mission has included franchising teacher involvement in administrative decisions affecting classroom instruction, creating safe classroom environments for students, teachers and classified employees, successfully transitioning English Learner students supporting first-rate after school programs and targeted school renovation projects, which serves both the students and teachers, as well as provides an economic stimulus in the community.

A product of Compton schools, Micah resides in the city of Compton, California. He has studied at Stanford University, Yale University and Alabama State University. He attained his Bachelor of Science Degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
