In 1997 she graduated with her B.A., 4 years of All-SCIAC water polo first team honors and 3 years of All American water polo honors as well, culminating in her being named the Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the college. While working on her teaching credential she began work at Toll Middle School. She spent the next 7 years teaching at Toll (History and AVID), mentoring new teachers as a BTSA and Occidental College mentor. After serving as the interim head water polo coach at Occidental College, Jennifer took over the Hoover High School Aquatics program. She spent the next three years teaching AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and history at Toll and then crossing the street to coach at Hoover.

In 2004, she and Allen had their first child, Kyra. Jennifer continued to work part time, coaching and teaching a couple of classes. When their second child, Logan, was born in 2006, she moved to full time motherhood, rounding out the family with Tyler, born in 2010. When Kyra started kindergarten at Franklin Elementary School in 2009, Jennifer immediately jumped into volunteering at the school, joining the PTA Board as the fundraising chair and spending time in the classroom each week. Since 2009, Jennifer has been a permanent fixture on the Franklin PTA board serving as Fundraising Chair, Treasurer, and President. She has also branched out to the Glendale Council PTA, serving as the VP of Health and Welfare.

In 2013 Jennifer went back to work, accepting the position of Coordinator of Children and Family Ministries at Glendale First United Methodist Church. She has enjoyed the challenge of organizing all aspects of connecting with families at the church, including starting a full time Vacation Bible School day camp in the summer.

As a member of the Glendale Community Jennifer has devoted significant time in charity work. She is a past president of ALOED (Alumni of Occidental College in Education) and served on Occidental College's Board of Governors. She joined National Charity League of Glendale, Juniors in 2006 and through that organization has been involved in activities supporting the local GAR, Glendale YWCA, Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, Pediatric Therapy Center as well as the Komen Race for the Cure at Dodger Stadium.

She also enjoyed being the Brownie and then Junior leader for Girl Scout Troop 12135, Cubmaster for Pack 738, helping coach her daughter's softball team, and greeting Franklin students every morning and afternoon at the drop off and pick up lanes.
