COMMITMENT.

My life and career have been rooted in creating possibilities that improve the educational outcomes in marginalized communities. I am committed to improving our transfer rates to the universities; I am committed to creating pathways in career and technical education programs; and I am also committed to ensuring that our faculty and staff are provided with a positive working environment.

PURPOSE.

As a member to the LACCD Board of Trustees, my purpose will be to improve the educational outcomes of our students. As a trustee my purpose will be to advocate on behalf of students so that we can uphold and deliver on the promise of a quality education. I will energize the discussion around actions that will benefit students, faculty and staff at our nine colleges. I will impact the future of many students through actions that will lead to increased educational opportunities for all of our students. COMPASSION.

As a college professor within the LACCD, I am witness to the dreams and goals of students. I am also a witness to the many challenges which our students face as they try to fulfill their educations goals. The LACCD services students from all walks of life: high school graduates, returning students, veteran students, students who work full time and attend school in the evening, students who are parents, we are an open door institution. I am compassionate and sensitive to the plight of all of our students. For more information, to volunteer or to donate: Please contact me at 323-646-7534 or email at sokie4LACCD@gmail.com
