BALANCING CITY BUDGET & ATTRACTING JOBS

As a small business owner for the last 10 years in the South Bay Galleria, I understand the importance of sound fiscal management and the role of the City Council in attracting good jobs to our community. As an appointee of the City's Budget and Finance Committee, I assisted the City Manager and City Council in sound financial planning that has helped lead to the budget reserves we have today. As your Councilmember, I will:

  • Work to attract new small businesses to broaden our tax base
  • Find a new tenant to replace Nordstrom as the City's largest tax producer
  • Work with our neighboring cities to keep the Los Angeles Air Force in the South Bay
  • Stretch our tax dollars to invest in core city services
  • Increase city revenues with prudent investments
  • Revitalize the South Bay Galleria, one of our largest employers

PROTECTING OUR BEACH & ENVIRONMENT

Our beach is the crown jewel of our city and the entire South Bay. We must do everything we can to protect and beautify it, as well as our other open spaces. Revitalizing our waterfront is critical, but must be done in a fiscally responsible way. Any development of our harbor must take into consideration our quality of life.

GOOD SCHOOLS & QUALITY EDUCATION

It is critical that our children have the best education available, complete with athletics, arts and music. This starts with a strong partnership between the City government and the School Board. I will continue to cultivate a strong working relationship with the superintendent and school board members.

SAFE STREETS & NEIGHBORHOODS

Keeping Redondo Beach safe for our families is my top priority. We can achieve this by employing enough police officers and firefighters to maintain quick response times. Also, we must strive to keep our talented public safety officials working here in Redondo Beach, rather than moving to jobs in other cities after we have invested in their training.

IMPROVING OUR ROADS & REDUCING TRAFFIC

Excessive traffic poses a safety hazard, particularly for our children, pedestrians, bicyclists and seniors. We must combat commuter congestion and business-related parking on our residential streets. I will bring together residents, businesses, and government agencies to collaborate on an approach that works, while weighing all perspectives.

PROTECTING SENIORS

Preserving a high quality of life for our seniors and providing them with the city services they need is paramount. I will continue to devote city resources to senior programs that include nutrition classes, income tax assistance, legal aid, and continuing education.
