Measure A

By Roy Francis

Candidate for Councilmember; City of La Habra Heights

This information is provided by the candidate
Why I support Measure A "Healthy City Initiative"
La Habra Heights is a beautiful rural residential community with many challenges facing our residents. The newest issue, big oil companies wanting to use unconventional oil drilling techniques such as fracking and steam injection just to name a few,to drill for oil.

A new company called Matrix is proposing to drill up to 27 new wells and transporting crude oil by truck down our narrow winding streets. This will include portable drilling rigs, service trucks and tractor drawn large oil takers etc... Some of our streets are barley passable with cars going in the opposite direction and they want to put very large trucks on our streets! Unconventional drilling techniques at other oil well sites within the Heights could be next. Is this what our residents want?

The damage caused to our infrastructure by heavy truck traffic is bad enough. The environmental impact to the residents of this community, I feel would be very detrimental where ever oil companies decide to use unconventional drilling techniques.

I am not against big oil companies drilling for oil; I am against the idea of them using unconventional drilling techniques to retrieve oil in an all residential community.

Currently, as a member of the City Council, I support Measure A and encourage residents to vote YES on Measure A.
