Smart Voter Political Philosophy for John Ebiner

Candidate for
Council Member; City of San Dimas

This information is provided by the candidate

San Dimas is a great place to live, and I am honored to serve as your councilmember.

Quality of life and economic vitality are my priorities.

  • A Vibrant, Walkable Downtown
  • Strong Neighborhoods
  • Parks and Open Space
  • Our Small Town Atmosphere
  • Fair, Open, and Friendly Government
  • High Standards and Fiscal Responsibility

Did you know that a nice restaurant is about to open at the Walker House? This historic gem was built in 1887. The City of San Dimas wanted to preserve it, so we bought it and restored it. The Festival of Arts and the Historical Society call it home, and it will be showcased even more with the new restaurant.

Downtown revitalization has long been one of my priorities. The city recently partnered with small business owners to restore their historic facades. Coming soon is a big project that will help downtown businesses and encourage sidewalk dining. We are able to do projects like these because we have a healthy tax base, a conservative fiscal policy, and we spend our reserves wisely. We saved the money, so we are able to spend it - $450,000 on the façade program and $1,000,000, maybe a little more, on the sidewalk project.

We saved the Walnut Creek plateau and canyon from development by partnering with a conservation group and buying a strategic 60-acre parcel. The entire Walnut Creek area is now preserved. Soon new trails will traverse this tranquil area.

Marchant Park will undergo major renovations this year with a new picnic area, new restrooms, and a lot more. For me, one of the most exciting parts of this project is a fun, brand-new playground, where children of all abilities can play side by side.

The Gold Line is coming, and we must continue planning for it. I'm on the Station Design and Art Review Committee, and I am committed to making this a reality in San Dimas.

My promise is the same as it always has been: Independence. Fresh Ideas. Dedication to our quality of life. This is what I will continue to offer if I am re-elected to the City Council.

Lori and I came to San Dimas as a young married couple. Our four kids know San Dimas as their home. Today I remain committed -- to children and senior citizens, families and individuals; to fair, open, and friendly government; to high standards and our small town feeling -- in short, to you, the people of San Dimas!
