Robert L. Cole, Jr. Biography Candidate for Los Angeles City Council District 8

As an active leader in my community, I am running to serve on the Los Angeles City Council to impact the City and Council District 8 on a larger scale and in a more systemic way. Serving as City Councilman would provide me with the unique opportunity to combine my passion for public service, experience in business, my legal acumen with my interpersonal and problem solving skills to help promote neighborhoods that are safe and vibrant communities. I am passionate about working on behalf of communities, residents and business owners to address quality of life issues. Residents, business owners, schools, and community organizations are important resources that are vital to the overall success of the City. It cannot be overstated the importance of ensuring that communities are safe and thriving. I am eager to apply my knowledge of the City and its processes, my legal background, and leverage my existing relationships to directly impact the 8th District in a larger meaningful way.

I am a progressive leader who is a champion of transforming the City to a more business friendly municipality. The 8th District has the fewest number of jobs, limited growth in the workforce and one of the highest unemployment rates in the City. As the next city councilman, my top priority will be job creation and strongly opposing ideology that is counter-productive to business and job stability.

I have a long-standing commitment to the 8th District along with the experience in public service. Having worked for four (4) elected officials on the federal, state, county and city level, I understand the nuances of public service and how to get things done within a political framework. I have served as the President of The New Leaders, Chair of my neighborhood council for 4 years, President of one of the largest homeowners association in the City for more than 10 years and have been reappointed by County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas as the Commissioner on the Citizens' Economy and Efficiency Committee.

I am eager to represent the residents of Council District 8!
