Janet Chin's Candidate Statement

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Rosemead, I am a well-informed citizen and a dedicated volunteer. As a third generation Army Veteran and a twice elected School Board Member, I know how to stay mission-oriented and make decisions that benefit our community long term. My values guide my decisions and I have proven to stand as a strong leader while building public trust.

I have served our residents as:
-Traffic Commissioner
-Neighborhood Watch Captain
-Member/Qualified Instructor, Community Emergency Response Team
-Member, City of Rosemead Emergency Communications Team
-Graduate, Advanced Sheriff's Citizens Academies

My extensive experience as a small business owner and as Founder of a non-profit youth charity in our community, as well as my current work as Communications Director for our Senate District gives me a wider lens of Rosemead's role in the San Gabriel Valley. For too long, Rosemead has been a place you drive through to get somewhere else. It's time to give Rosemead a true identity.

I stand ready and committed to serve the residents of our community. Together, I believe we can:

-Work to "Build a Better Rosemead",that includes supporting our small businesses and enabling businesses to create more jobs.

-Boost our local economy with long term economic development

-Ensure a city hall that is friendly, efficient, and responsive to residents needs

-Better promote quality public safety services and accessibility for emergency preparedness resources

- Protect our Seniors, families and youth from being victims of crime.

I want to better our community's quality of life, neighbor by neighbor, by taking better care of each other to create a city that you and I can both be proud to live and a city that others will envy.
