Alice M. Yoder of West Hempfield Township was born in New York City and was president of her high school class in Queens. She was also president of her class at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, from which she received a BSN in Nursing in 1980. (An MSN in Nursing Administration from Villanova University followed in 1992.) After nursing stints in New York City, Washington, DC, and Pittsburgh, she and her husband settled in Lancaster County in 1988.

She has been associated with Lancaster General Hospital ever since, advancing from cardiac rehabilitation nurse to Director of Community Health. In that position, she has developed and overseen many health-related programs, working with health care organizations, private businesses and non-profits. Yoder's goal at every step has been "to make Lancaster county a better place to live, work, learn, and play."

Alice currently serves on the West Hempfield Planning Commission, Lancaster County Planning Commission, Lancaster County Business Group on Health Board of Directors, Lancaster County Children and Youth Advisory Committee, Ware Institute for Civic Engagement Advisory Board, United Way of Lancaster County Health Solutions Council, Hunger-free Coalition of Lancaster County, Lancaster Health Improvement Partnership, and more.

She and her husband, John, have two children: 24 and 13.
