James "Jamie" Santora has lived in Drexel Hill for over 37 years. He was taught from an early age that education was the most important thing in life. Not only the education you receive in the classroom but what you learn on the street, in your friends' homes or when going to work with one of his parents. Jamie's parents met while attending the University of Pennsylvania together. His mother was an immigrant from Spain whose parents relocated to Philadelphia to escape the Franco regime. His father who grew up in upstate New York and Connecticut worked for his father from the time he was a teenager and then for himself after the military and college. Jamie's parents instilled in him and his siblings, that if you work hard and believe in yourself and what you are doing you can achieve anything and overcome any obstacles. Jamie's father ran a Construction and was in the field working 10 hours days then worked at night from home doing the books for the company. His Mother started her career as a teacher then worked for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia serving the less fortunate in the Philadelphia Area. Jamie was 20 years old when he lost both of his parents, eight month apart. Jamie stayed in school at night and worked fulltime during the day and completed his degree, always keeping in mind what his parents had taught him about overcoming obstacles and believing in himself. His family was his biggest supporters. Jamie Santora is a graduate of St. Dorothy School, Cardinal O'Hara and Cabrini College. After 15 year career with O'Neill Properties group in King of Prussia, Jamie became a partner in a local real estate firm, Moore & Ryan Real Estate. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker. Jamie proudly serves as a Councilman At Large in Upper Darby Township, a position he was honored to be elected to in 2011. Jamie credits his Mother's commitment to public service as a major reason that he began giving back to his community and ultimately decided to seek public office. Jamie is dedicated to our community, our schools, our local economy, our infrastructure, and all of the residents of the 163rd. This type of dedication is shown by some just as words on a piece of paper; to Jamie Santora this dedication is shown by action. He served on the board of the Pilgrim Gardens Aronimink Civic Association as president until he was elected to office in 2011. He is still actively involved to this day; this board is involved in zoning issues, safety of the residents and community pride. He is on the Executive Board of Time for Teens a community outreach program headquartered in Upper Darby focused on Teenagers, Jamie was elected to St. Dorothy's Parish Council in 2012 where he is serving a two year term. He is a past president and current member of The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of UNICO an Italian American charitable organization of business leaders, who give back to their community, in 2012 Jamie was instrumental in the creation of the Faith in the Future Foundation that oversee the Philadelphia Archdiocese high school system, Last but not least Jamie Santora works tirelessly serving the residents of Upper Darby Township who have allowed him the privilege of serving as a Councilman in the Township he was born and raised in and has chosen to raise his own family in, Three of Jamie's four siblings also continue to live in Drexel Hill. They're all dedicated to this great community. Jamie and his wife Amy are the proud parents of three children Ryan a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, Tyler a 5th grader at Aronimink Elementary and Kyra a 4th grader at St. Dorothy.
