Economic Growth

By Josh Maxwell

Candidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 74

This information is provided by the candidate
1. Create new Jobs
2. Attract new Businesses
3. Invest in Infrastructure
Josh Maxwell knows that we need more and better jobs, businesses, and infrastructure in this district. We need to be more aggressive in bringing new businesses to the district, and the first step is infrastructure. We need to fix our deteriorating roads and bridges. We need to extend SEPTA service to Coatesville and Parkesburg, and make our district the true terminus of the Paoli/Thorndale rail line. All SEPTA trains should come all the way out to our district. We should also fix the Route 30 bypass so that drivers can get on and off in both directions at Airport Road in Valley Township and Rt. 113 in Downingtown, and we need to fix the bridges in Parkesburg.

Mayor Maxwell will aggressively fight for new businesses and economic growth for our district. We need to use every tool at our disposal, from working directly with existing small businesses to help them grow and employ more people to using Keystone Opportunity Zones to give new businesses incentive to locate here.

Lastly, we need to ensure that our workers are well paid and have good benefits. We need to ensure everyone has access to healthcare, and we need to raise the minimum wage.

What Josh Maxwell has done already:

During his term as Mayor, he restarted the Main Street Association, which aims to develop and revitalize downtown Downingtown. By collaborating with local business owners and developers, several new restaurants, like Stella Rossa, Station Taproom, and Avalon Pasta Bistro, are happy to call our district home. This success is the prime example of what happens when economic opportunities arise when all stake holders come together. Mayor Maxwell is excited to be overseeing the development of Downingtown's brand new train station. The plans for the new, centrally located station were announced last summer, and construction is expected to begin next year.
