PA Jobs

By Tony Crocamo

Candidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 98

This information is provided by the candidate
In 2010 PA had the 7th best job growth rate in the nation. PA is now 47th. A balanced approach to job creation, including employee training, hiring incentives for employers, and public-private partnerships for economic growth, is needed.
Some seem to believe that businesses producing products and services are the sole source of economic growth. Without citizens who can afford those products and services, those businesses cannot grow and will not survive.

Capital and labor depend on each other for each other's economic health. A one-sided approach to jobs growth--tax breaks to corporations--is a failed policy that does not create jobs.

A government that works for you will:

  • Create tax breaks for firms that create jobs by hiring new employees

  • Encourage investment in new technologies. Encourage innovation through cooperation between business, industry, and the state's universities and colleges

  • Lower the corporate tax rate and close corporate tax loopholes, including the Delaware loophole that allows 70% of companies that do business in PA not to pay corporate net income taxes

  • End corporate welfare for firms that neither deserve nor need taxpayer supported subsidies

  • Promote tax breaks for firms that:
    - Hire new employees
    - Offer equal pay for equal work
    - Buy PA products
    - Provide premium benefit packages to attract employees to PA
    - Are good corporate citizens
