Fix Our Streets

By David Arthur Glass

Candidate for Mayor; City of Petaluma

This information is provided by the candidate
If you are taxed extra which is on the ballot in this election every penny of that extra tax should go to street repair and traffic relief.
Fixing the condition of our roads has always been a priority for me. During my time in office as Mayor of Petaluma more streets have been repaired than anytime in Petaluma history. More obviously needs to be done.

That is why I advocated for any tax increase to be a restricted use tax that would require all additional tax dollars would go solely to street repair and traffic relief. There is a virtually infinite supply of work to do in those two areas and it is clear that is how the public wants done the most if they are taxed extra.

The only way to assure that would be the case is to give the voters the opportunity to approve a special tax rather than a general tax which would allow city councils to decide how to spend the extra tax dollars derived from an additional tax.

You deserved the opportunity to make sure your extra tax dollars would be required to go toward what you wish to purchase rather than what politicians decide they want to buy for you at your expense.

Fixing the streets is what I would and will do with your hard earned money.
