Why I am running for Pacifica School District Trustee

By Kathryn M. "Kathy" (Bogel) Shiokari

Candidate for Board Member; Pacifica School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I have had a 15+ year relationship in the PSD. I have volunteered my time and talents at both the school sites and at the District level in positions including PTO President, Site Council Representative, Community Oversight Committee, Interview Board, Strategic Plan Committee and SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee). I was intimately involved with our three parcel tax campaigns and was the Treasurer for the successful Jefferson High School District parcel tax. I have also attended hundreds of School Board Meetings and Work Studies at both the elementary district and the high school district. In addition, I have participated in ongoing educational presentations at the County Office of Education. I am passionate about public school education. I want to ensure that everyone has a voice in our district's decisions and would like to help represent the concerns of teachers, parents and community members. I would also like to ensure and strengthen our ties between schools and with the greater Pacifica community. The Pacifica School District is a cornerstone in our wonderful city. We have amazing programs at all sites, dedicated teachers, beautiful facilities and our children and families deserve nothing less. I have sent four children through these programs, both on the k-8 track and through the middle school program, and I believe our families are incredibly lucky to have these varied opportunities. If elected, I will continue to support all of our schools with energy, commitment and equity.
