BIOGRAPHY: DEBORAH RUDDOCK

I've lived in Half Moon Bay for more than 25 years. I got married, bought my first home, and raised my two children here in our public schools. I've called the Arleta Park neighborhood home for all of that time.

Employment History:

I have been employed at the State Coastal Conservancy for 14 years. This state agency is a non-regulatory agency that directly undertakes or awards grants for projects to preserve agriculture lands and open space, provide access to and along the Coast and SF Bay via trails and other means, revitalize waterfronts, restore and enhance plant and wildlife habitat, and help communities prepare for sea level rise. For 10 years I've served as the agency's liaison with the legislature. I also analyze and report on legislation for my own and other agencies as well as help draft legislative bills from time to time. I continue to serve our small agency as a grants manager and have experience collaborating with various public agencies and non-profit organizations to plan and implement projects.

My employment history also includes a variety of marketing and public relations positions with Silicon Valley companies, including Hewlett-Packard, and I began my career as a local government and business beat reporter for a daily newspaper.
