Why I'm Running

For the last 15 years, I've been taking people out on the water in my 53-foot charter boat, Huli Cat. With my deckhand Michael, we host fishermen and whale watchers, divers and scientists. I even marry people. During the Mavericks surfing competition we host surfers and photographers.

Fishing and sailing on the West Coast since 1967, I can handle the boat in a storm. But with school kids out on the ocean for their first time, I'm still as thrilled as they are when dolphins ride the bow wake!

Before launching my sportfishing and charter business, I earned an MBA in management. Then I worked in various leadership roles in healthcare. I was Director of Operations for a hospital and then Administrative Director for a large cardiac medicine practice. In these roles, I led as many as ninety-nine employees in multiple offices and facilities. As an executive, my mission was to figure out how teams can work better and then inspire employees to make it happen.

While running my charter boat business I've developed useful marine knowledge that will help guide the Harbor District.

My business experience includes budget oversight, contract negotiations, and HR management.

I understand the needs of small marine related business.

As a Captain licensed by the US Coast Guard I'm able to serve recreational fishermen and water lovers every day.

Our harbor community includes commercial fishermen, recreational boaters, business operators and live-aboards. We all want clean, well managed harbors that attract visitors and thrive economically.
