Rick Kowalczyk (Co-wal-chek) is a take-charge community leader and businessman with deep roots in the Coastside.

Rick has a terrific track record of success on the City Council and will bring continued positive momentum to Half Moon Bay. Helping lead the City's financial turn-around, restarting long stalled projects like the construction of a new library, and initiating the renovation of Mac Dutra park are just a few of the building blocks for continued success. Rick is a hands-on leader often seen working for the community, whether painting over graffiti and cleaning up creeks with groups of volunteers, or travelling to Sacramento to meet with State leaders on issues that impact the City. Rick gets stuff done!

Rick is a stable force in the community, actively supporting organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside, I.D.E.S, the Sheriff's Activity League (SAL), and the Coastside Land Trust.

Most recently Rick joined the Board of Trustees for Sea Crest School, and co-founded the Half Moon Bay Latino Advisory Council, an organization focused on ensuring that all voices in the community are heard equally.

Rick is known for forming strong collaborative relationships to achieve common goals. Partnerships with residents, the Boys & Girls Club, Cabrillo Unified School District, and San Mateo County helped all groups move forward toward shared goals in a positive way.

Professionally, Rick is working as a marketing and strategy leader for a cloud security start-up. He is also the founder and Managing Partner of Medallurgy, LLC, a business consulting firm focused on defining winning strategies that connect the dots between intent and results.

Rick grew up in Detroit Michigan, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Detroit, and subsequently earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Rick found in Half Moon Bay a community with passion for living amidst unprecedented natural beauty, and has made it his home for the past 15 years.

In addition to spending time with his amazing wife and wonderful daughters, Rick enjoys biking the coastal trail and exploring local beaches. He is an avid San Jose Sharks and San Francisco Giants fan. He also has a reputation for losing golf balls at unprecedented rates.

Rick is passionate about strengthening Half Moon Bay as a community for the all the families that live here, work here, and play here. Half Moon Bay is an amazing place, and Rick is certain that it can be even better if we put our citizens first and ensure that the political agenda serves them at its core.
