It is time for a visitor and education center at Pillar Point HarborPillar Point Harbor is an end-destination for tens of thousands of visitors from around the county, around Northern California and around the world. When they arrive, there is no one to greet them, no one to show them around and no one to tell the amazing story of the history of the San Mateo County coast, the fishing fleet, about Maverick's, or about sustainable fisheries. There is no where for the children to safely assemble and to be introduced to all that Pillar Point Harbor and the coastside has to offer. It is time to develop a visitor and education center at Pillar Point Harbor. It is time to plan for tourists, children and teenagers coming in by bus. No other candidate for the Harbor Commission is talking about this. The Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, now headquartered in San Francisco has informally expressed an interest in operating such a Center at Pillar Point Harbor. There are other fine organizations that could do this, too. Given support by the public, the Harbor District might do so. Show your support by voting for me, Will Holsinger, for Harbor District, on November 4th. |
