If elected, my top priorities for East Palo Alto would be:

Improve Public Safety

  • Continue and strengthen crime reduction measures: responsive and responsible community policing, hire a Police Chief who is committed to collaborating with a diverse community, encourage neighborhood watch and block groups, hold bilingual beat meetings, Measure C funding for youth and re-entry programs

Encourage Local Small Business Development
  • Simplify processes for obtaining business licenses and permits
  • Support and promote job training and entrepreneurship development

Protect and Improve Access to Affordable Housing
  • Balance new development with protections against displacement of current residents
  • Protect and strengthen the Rent Stabilization, Just Cause Eviction, and Condo Conversion Ordinances
  • Encourage affordable housing development by streamlining red tape, and using existing city funds already dedicated for affordable housing to leverage county and state funds
